NEED A QUICK ZAP?

Writing Prompts are by far the most effective way to chop writer’s block and exercise your creativity. There isn’t a sensible writer out there who doesn’t see the value in a writing prompt.

This list will grow over time, but for now it should provide you a jump-start. Happy writing!

  1. You’re at the beach and decide to write a message in a bottle. What does it say? Who do you hope will find it?
  2. If you could traverse the barriers of space and time, what would be on your bucket list?
  3. Finish this sentence: “If I could fly I would . . .”
  4. Create a monster story equivalent of Godzilla and Tokyo.
  5. Imagine a world where it snows in the summertime.

  7. Would you trade your car to delete your biggest fear?
  8. Which of the Wizard of Oz characters would you rather be?
  9. Write your own fortunes for fortune cookies and hand them to five strangers.
  10. What would it be like if dinosaurs roamed the earth now? Would humans have evolved to co-exist with them?
  11. You bought a sailboat. Name it and chart a destination.
  12. What if you actually grew up to become what your childhood self wanted you to be?
  13. Imagine a new character for the Peanuts comic strip.
  14. If you could know absolutely everything about one person in the world, alive or dead, who would it be?

  16. If you could hear the voices of the trees, what would they say?
  17. Which of the five senses could you not live without?
  18. You’re delivered an aged, handwritten envelope with no return address, dated early 1900’s. Strangely enough, your name is on it. What does the letter say?
  19. Are you Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or a NEW Hogwarts house?
  20. Write a limerick about a drunk werewolf.
